On The Camino in Spain

I tell myself that I have learnt

how to smile.

I tell myself that I have learnt,

how to smile without you around.

And I remembered when I met you in that winter storm, and we found shelter in that hidden cabin on the mountainside. Drinking coffee till dawn.

And I knew I was warm. I knew I was warm.

And I remembered finding you years later. Walking on the Camino in Spain, you were just walking on the Camino in Spain. So, I turned and walked with you the wrong way. I turned and walked with you.

I tell myself I have learnt,

I tell myself I have learnt,

how to smile without you around.

And I remembered when we rode into the Himalayas. Your hair in the wind on the back of the motorcycle, your wild hair, the wild air

And I drove further faster than ever before.

And I remembered the Pacific Ocean, and how tan we got, that summer on the boat. I remembered laughing in the face of the storm, knowing we would always float, knowing we would always float.

I lie to myself that I have learnt,

I lie to myself that I have learnt,

how to dream without you around.
